I wanted to share something a bit off the usual travel topic but still very much a part of my journey, how I managed to study for the HashiCorp Infrastructure Automation Certification while traveling across Europe. It all started last spring when I was stuck in that âeither travel or careerâ mindset. I had been meaning to upgrade my cloud skills, specifically in infrastructure automation, and the HashiCorp certification seemed like the perfect fit. But at the same time, I had this itch to explore Europe, something I kept pushing back year after year.
So, I made a decision: Why not both?
I started my trip in Lisbon, Portugal, a beautiful and surprisingly great place for digital nomads. I spent my mornings walking through Alfama's narrow streets and my afternoons tucked away in quiet cafés with solid Wi-Fi. This became my routine: explore a new city by day, and in the evening, commit a few focused hours to study. The certification I was preparing for, HashiCorp Infrastructure Automation, mainly focuses on using Terraform and other HashiCorp tools to automate infrastructure provisioning. Itâs quite technical, but once you get the rhythm, it actually becomes fun, especially when youâre learning in a relaxed place like Porto or the Italian coast. What really helped me was having a consistent routine, even when I changed cities. I traveled light with a foldable keyboard and my laptop, and I always made sure my accommodation had decent Wi-Fi before booking (pro tip: always double-check Airbnb reviews for this).
When I reached Vienna, I realized I needed more structure in my preparation. I came across Pass4Future, and honestly, it made a huge difference. Their HashiCorp Terraform-Associate-003 exam practice questions for the HashiCorp Infrastructure Automation Certification helped me gauge where I stood. Iâd use them during train rides or while waiting at airports. It was practical, easy to access on the go, and much better than flipping through heavy PDF manuals. I wouldnât say I crammed; instead, I learned gradually, reviewing a few topics each day. Their practice content mirrored the actual exam style pretty closely, so it gave me a real boost of confidence.
From the vineyards in Bordeaux to the snowy Alps in Switzerland, I kept this balance of learning and living. It felt strange at first, studying Terraform while sipping espresso at a café in Florence, but eventually, it became a rhythm that worked.
I think the key is not to be rigid. I didnât study every single day. Some days were just for exploring or resting. But the momentum stayed alive because I genuinely wanted to pass and because I felt motivated by the changing environment around me. I ended the trip in Berlin, and thatâs where I scheduled and passed the HashiCorp Infrastructure Automation Certification exam. It felt surreal, achieving a career goal while fulfilling a personal dream to travel Europe. So, for anyone thinking you have to pause one part of your life to work on another, maybe not. If you plan well and use the right tools (seriously, Pass4Future saved me during the prep phase), you can absolutely make it happen.
Happy travels, and happy learning to any fellow techies out there!
