  • If the application is submitted in India- a fee of Rs.15,000/- by way of Demand Draft favoring "Pay and Accounts Officer (Secretariat), Ministry of Home Affairs" payable at New Delhi.


The supporting documents that need to be provided include:


  • Proof of the existing citizenship
  • Proof of the address where the application is made
  • Copy of long duration Visa (other than Tourist Visa, Missionary Visa and Mountaineering Visa) and this should have 3 months validity with respect to the date of application. In addition, the Residential Permit/ Registration Certificate delivered by the jurisdictional FRRO/ FRO or as the case.
  • Proof of the self, and parents or grandparents or great grandparents.
  • Indication of association as parent/ grandparent/ great grandparent, if their Indian origin is appealed as basis for registration as OCI Cardholder.
  • Document from the Indian/ OCI Cardholder spouse made in case of divorce/ separation/ death of foreign spouse, it is his/ her accountability for surrendering the OCI Card to the Government of India.


On accounts of the marriages:

  1. solemnized in India, Marriage certificate issued by Marriage Registrar is required;
  2. solemnized in foreign country, it should be apostled/ certified by the concerned Indian Mission/ Post.


All those marriage certificates that are not in English need to be translated.
