Weekend trip to Bheemili Beach

I, along with my friends drove to a beach called Bheemili or Bheemunipatnam one of the places near Visakhapatnam (Vizag) for a weekend trip. I had discovered a small piece of Heaven on the shores of Bay of Bengal, which is nearly around one-hour journey from Visakhapatnam. This place is surrounded by hills and ocean. This place is named after Bheema of the Mahabharata was once a colonial settlement. The Dutch as well as The British used this place as a holiday spot, so they had left behind lighthouses, cemeteries, churches and other monuments, mostly in ruins around the town.
An old Narasimha Swamy Temple, was believed that it was built around the 14th century stood on the top of the hill. You can also find Buddhist monuments around the place as well. There is no better way to stay in the luxurious Bheemili Beach Resort, which is right opposite to the ocean. Every room in this resort offers the views of the sea, surrounded by the coconut trees. It was a perfect weekend getaway and one of the places to visit near Vizag.

The infinity pool was located next to Teppanayaki Restaurant and the chefs of this restaurant were trained by the Japanese. There is both veg and non-veg option with a great combination of both Japanese and Indian Dishes. The manager of the restaurant told me that they got most of the ingredients from Japan. After having lunch with the Japanese cuisine. We were exploring the village with a local person who is pursuing his B.Tech. This person acted as our guide and became our friend.

My favourite haunt was the fishing harbour along the estuary of the river Gosthani joining the Bay of Bengal. The Guide told me that earlier people came here to spend time in the beach but later on many tourists who have interest in the history are also visiting this place as well. He added saying that tourism helped the locals to get their employment as well. We walked up the 200 odd steps of Narasimha Swamy Temple and took the views of the entire Bheemili as well. Long walks on the beach with the breeze, watching the tides, climbing up the steps of the Temple, looking at the ruins of the colonial past. And I sat in the balcony of the resort after a long exploring day with my eyes closed and listening to my favourite music and when I opened my eyes a beautiful full moon stood in front of me, and the moon with the beach was excellent. I believed that everyone should visit this place at least once in their lifetime.
