Masi Magam 2025- The Festival That Removes Afflictions

The Tamil festival Masi Magam is celebrated during the Tamil month, Masi, which is between the English months of February and March. It precisely falls on the Full Moon Day or Poornima Day, aligning with the Magha star.

Masi Magam is a festival celebrated annually, but the Maha Magam is celebrated only once in 12 years, making it a unique event. This is because the planet Jupiter transits in the Leo or Magha sign on the Masi Magam day.

The Masi Magam and Maha Magam are celebrated with a holy dip followed by religious rituals that leads to spiritual purification. It is also known as Theerthavari.
