How to Reach Savandurga?

Location: Savandurga Hill, 60 km west of Bangalore

By Car/Bike:

  • The best way to reach is by car or bike, taking about 1.5 to 2 hours from Bangalore.
  • Route: Bangalore → Magadi Road → Manchanabele → Savandurga

By Bus:

  • Take a KSRTC bus from Bangalore to Magadi.
  • From Magadi, hire an auto-rickshaw or cab to reach the trek base.

By Train:

  • The nearest railway station is Kengeri, about 35 km away.
  • From Kengeri, hire a cab to Savandurga.

Trekking Route & Experience

The Savandurga Trek has two major trails:

Karigudda Trail (Black Hill) – Difficult

  • Steep, challenging, and less popular.
  • Requires technical climbing skills and is best suited for experienced trekkers.
  • Dense vegetation and rocky terrain make it an adventurous climb.

Billigudda Trail (White Hill) – Moderate

  • The most popular and recommended route.
  • Marked by yellow arrow signs to guide trekkers.
  • Offers panoramic views of Arkavathi River & Manchanabele Dam.
  • Trek Distance: 4.5 km (Round trip)
  • Trek Duration: 2 to 3 hours (one way)

Best Time to Visit Savandurga

The trek is open throughout the year, but the best time to visit is:

Winter (October to February): Cool weather, ideal for trekking.

Summer (March to May): Hot and challenging, so start early (before sunrise).

Monsoon (June to September): Slippery trails, but the greenery is mesmerizing.

Recommended Trek Timing: Start by 5:30 AM to catch the sunrise and avoid the harsh sun.
