If youâre craving a short but refreshing getaway from city life, Coorg, also known as Kodagu, is the perfect destination. Famous for its sprawling coffee plantations, misty hills, and cascading waterfalls, Coorg offers a peaceful retreat with just the right mix of nature, culture, and adventure. A 3 Days Coorg Tour Package is ideal for experiencing the essence of this hill station without feeling rushed. Hereâs a detailed guide based on my personal experience.
I started my journey early morning from Bangalore, driving approximately 5â6 hours to reach Coorg. The drive itself is picturesque, with winding roads cutting through forests and small villages. If you prefer public transport, buses from Bangalore or Mysore are available, and taxis can be arranged for convenience.
On arrival, I checked into a charming homestay on a coffee estate near Madikeri, which gave me an authentic Kodagu experience. After settling in, I visited Madikeri Fort to get a panoramic view of the town and surrounding hills, followed by Rajaâs Seat, a scenic garden known for its sunset views.
In the evening, I explored Madikeri Market, picking up local honey, spices, and freshly roasted coffee beans. Dinner at a local restaurant offered a taste of Kodava cuisine, including the signature Pandi Curry (pork curry) served with akki rotti (rice bread).
The second day was packed with adventure and cultural exploration. I started with a visit to Abbey Falls, a stunning waterfall surrounded by coffee and spice plantations. The walk to the falls was scenic, with mist rising from the cascading water â a photographerâs dream.
Next, I headed to Bylakuppe, one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India, to visit the Namdroling Monastery (Golden Temple). The peaceful chants, intricate murals, and massive Buddha statues created a serene atmosphere, a striking contrast to the bustling tourist areas.
In the afternoon, I visited Dubare Elephant Camp, located on the banks of the River Cauvery. I got to see elephants being fed and bathed, which was both entertaining and educational. After a full day of sightseeing, I returned to my homestay for a quiet dinner under the stars, enjoying the cool mountain air.
On the final day, I focused on experiencing Coorgâs natural beauty more intimately. A coffee plantation walk organized by the homestay was the perfect start â walking among misty coffee plants, learning about cultivation, and sampling freshly brewed coffee made for a peaceful morning.
Later, I visited Nisargadhama, a beautiful bamboo forest island near Kushalnagar. Itâs an offbeat spot where you can enjoy nature walks, bamboo bridges, and even elephant rides. For those looking for a quieter retreat, Chiklihole Reservoir is a hidden gem, perfect for a picnic or simply soaking in the scenic beauty.
After a hearty lunch featuring local Kodava dishes, it was time to begin the journey back home, carrying with me the aroma of coffee, memories of misty hills, and the warm hospitality of the locals.
Coorg is more than just a hill station; itâs an escape into nature, culture, and tranquility. A 3 Days Coorg Tour Package allows you to explore waterfalls, coffee plantations, monasteries, and wildlife at a relaxed pace, making it ideal for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. By the end of the trip, the misty mornings, rolling hills, and local flavors leave a lasting impression â one that calls you back to the hills again and again.
