6 Places to Visit in Mussoorie

Mussoorie, the glittering hill station, has long been a favourite of many. It is the muse of a romantic, a loner's paradise, and a nature lover's paradise. Once you've been here, you'll never be able to erase the memories from your heart because the kaleidoscopic hills will always remind you of your betrothal.

This colonial hill station attracts visitors with some of India's most prestigious educational institutions, stately hotels, cosy cafes, old taverns, estates, churches, buildings, offices, bustling markets, and tourist spots.
Mussoorie is one of India's most popular hill stations, known for its weekend getaways, honeymoon destinations, Himalayan views, and Mall Road.

Places to visit in Mussoorie

Kempty Falls, Mussoorie's

A trip to Mussoorie would be incomplete without a visit to the world-famous Kempty Falls. A British officer created the site in the 1830s to host tea parties, and it has since become a popular attraction in Mussoorie, particularly for picnics.

These falls, which drop from a height of nearly 1,364 metres, provide breathtaking views of the valley below. Take a bath in the pool formed at the bottom of the fall, take photos, or sit by the side of the cascading fall and enjoy Maggi with kadak chai.

Gun Hill Point, Mussoorie

Gun Hill Point, Mussoorie's second highest peak, is one of the most popular viewpoints in the area. This viewpoint is 1.7 kilometres from Mall Road and is accessible via a 20-minute uphill hike. You will be able to see the Bunderpunch, Srikantha, Gangotri, and Pithwara Himalayan ranges from here, in addition to a 360-degree view of the town and other parts of the Doon Valley.

Cloud's End, Mussoorie's

If you're looking for solitude on your next trip to Mussoorie, Cloud's End is the place to be. This picturesque stretch of lush deodar and oak forests is located 6 kilometres from the Library Road and marks the geographical end of the hill town. Cloud's End can be reached by trekking along Hathipaon Road from the Happy Valley area.

This location not only has stunning views throughout the day, but it also has the most surreal setting for watching the sunrise and set in the azure sky. Photographers love this location, and you could get your next Insta-worthy shot here.

Jharipani Falls, Mussoorie

The beautiful Jharipani Falls is located in the quaint village of Jharipani, about 7 kilometres from Mussoorie's city centre. Its allure stems from its remote location, which has yet to be spoiled by tourist crowds. You can spend hours soaking in the beauty of the falls, taking pictures, or simply admiring the scenery surrounding the waterfall, including views of the Shivalik range.

At the site, you can also see rare flower varieties in bloom. The drive to the falls is straightforward and can be completed in a car. However, after a certain point, you must trek for approximately 1.5 kilometres to reach the falls.

Lal Tibba, Mussoorie's

Lal Tibba, located on Depot Hill in Landour, is one of Mussoorie's highest viewpoints. This vantage point is only 6 kilometres from the city centre and sits at an elevation of 2,275 metres, so you can only imagine the views from up here. The viewpoint's name translates to "Red Hill," a direct reference to the colour of the sky visible from here during sunrise and sunset.

On a clear day, you can see peaks like Bandarpunch, Kedarnath, and Badrinath from this vantage point. The telescopes installed at Lal Tibba allow you to take in the beauty of it all up close and personal.

Mussoorie's Sir George Everest's House

Sir George Everest's House, 6 kilometres from Gandhi Chowk in Mussoorie, was built in 1832. This location, also known as The Park Estate, was Sir George Everest's home, laboratory, and observatory. Sir Everest has done it all from this location, from measuring the highest mountains to scaling the distances between the mountains of the north.

Visit the observatory to learn more about his life and work. The views from the summit atop which the heritage building sits are breathtaking, especially when they are shrouded in mist. So, even if the history doesn't pique your interest, the views will.
