When city life starts to feel too fast and overwhelming, thereâs one place I always think ofâCoorg. Nestled in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, Coorg (also called Kodagu) is a world of its own: mist-covered hills, sprawling coffee estates, cascading waterfalls, and a culture thatâs as warm as its people.
I recently took a 3 Days Coorg Tour Package, and those three days felt like the perfect balance of exploration, relaxation, and discovery. Whether youâre a couple, a family, or a solo traveler, Coorg has something for everyone. Hereâs my full experience, along with tips to help you plan your own 3-day Coorg itinerary.
Coorg is often called the âScotland of Indiaâ, and itâs easy to see why. The rolling green hills look endless, especially when the morning mist hangs low over the plantations. But what really stood out to me was the mix of activitiesâyou can trek up a peak in the morning, sip coffee in a plantation by afternoon, and wind down with a campfire under the stars at night.
Itâs a place where you donât just sightseeâyou slow down, breathe deeply, and let nature do its magic. Three days here gives you just enough time to see the highlights while leaving you wanting more.
Coorgâs charm changes with the seasons.
I went in January, and the mornings were crisp while afternoons were sunny and comfortableâperfect for long outdoor days.
Coorg doesnât have its own airport or railway station, but getting there is part of the fun.
The winding ghat roads, coffee-scented air, and mountain views make the drive itself feel like the start of your holiday.
Hereâs how my Coorg trip unfoldedâbalanced between iconic sights and laid-back experiences.
I reached Coorg by afternoon and checked into a lovely homestay tucked between coffee plantations. After a quick rest, I headed out to Rajaâs Seat, the most famous viewpoint in Madikeri. Watching the sun melt into the horizon with layers of hills turning gold was the perfect way to start the trip.
Later, I explored Madikeri Fort and Omkareshwara Temple, which gave me a glimpse into Coorgâs history and culture. The day ended with hot Kodava foodâspicy pandi curry (pork) with akki rotti (rice roti)âand of course, a steaming cup of fresh Coorg coffee.
The second day was all about immersing in Coorgâs nature. I started with a guided walk in a coffee plantation, where I learned how coffee beans are grown and processed. The earthy smell of coffee mixed with pepper vines was unforgettable.
From there, I made my way to Abbey Falls, where water tumbled dramatically amidst thick greenery. Standing on the hanging bridge facing the falls, I felt the cool mist on my faceâa refreshing break in the middle of the day.
Next up was Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can watch elephants being bathed, fed, and trained by their mahouts. Itâs especially fun if youâre traveling with kids.
The evening was spent strolling through local markets, picking up homemade chocolates, spices, and honeyâlittle souvenirs that always bring back memories.
On my final day, I woke up early for a drive to Talacauvery, the birthplace of the River Cauvery. Nestled in the Brahmagiri Hills, the temple here is peaceful, and climbing up the nearby hill gave me sweeping views of the misty mountains.
Before heading back, I visited Nisargadhama, a small island on the Cauvery River. The bamboo groves, hanging bridge, and deer park gave the morning a tranquil, almost magical touch. It was the perfect calm ending before driving back to Bangalore.
A few things I learned from my Coorg trip:
Budget-wise, Coorg suits everyone. Homestays start around INR 1,200â1,500 a night, while luxury resorts can cost INR 8,000+. Local food is affordable, and entry fees for most attractions are minimal.
As for safety, Coorg is tourist-friendly and welcoming. Roads can be curvy, so drive carefully. If youâre visiting waterfalls in monsoon, avoid venturing too close to the edges.
Looking back, my 3 Days Coorg Tour Package felt like the perfect blend of sightseeing, cultural exploration, and downtime. From the drama of Abbey Falls to the peace of Talacauvery, and from coffee plantation walks to elephant encounters, every day brought something new.
Three days is enough to soak in Coorgâs essence without feeling rushed. But hereâs the truthâonce you leave, youâll already be planning your next trip back. Because Coorg doesnât just give you a holiday, it gives you memories wrapped in the fragrance of coffee and the mist of the Western Ghats.
