Your trip to Jaipur cannot end without visiting Amer Fort. Fort which stands still even today. Built in 1599 during the reign of Raja Man Singh the architecture of the fort showcase the magnificent and strong base of Rajasthani culture. Being an UNESCO world heritage site the place is always filled with tourists and you can always find some or other events happening. 

Located just 11 km from city of Jaipur fort is built from red sandstone and marble and is located near Maotha Lake which adds true charm to the fort. The palace was once known as Dhundar and was ruled by Kachhwahas from 11th to 16th century.
 

Since then many sculptures and old structures have been destroyed or replaced this palace stands still even today. 

Architectural Layout

The palace has four different structures along with different entrances. The main entrance gate is known as Suraj Pol or Sun Gate. Jaleb Chowk is one of the four courtyards of the fort. The Sila Devi Temple is present right at entrance of palace which adds value to the beauty of the place. 

The second courtyard is famous for its ‘Diwan-i-Alam’, the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ and the ‘Sukh Mahal’ One of the famous attraction here is ‘Magic Flower’ a fresco carved out of marble.

The best part about reaching the fort is that you need to undertake a small trek to reach the palace. Being present on hill fort adds more value to its beauty and looks amazing while walking on the path of reaching the main enterance.

Jaigarh Fort

Another magnificent fort situated near Amer fort is Jaigarh Fort. Was built by Sawai Jai Singh ll in 1726 in order to protect the boundaries of Amer Fort. Another name of the fort is Victory fort and is situated at the high hill whose name is Cheel ka Teela or Hills of Eagle.

Jagat Shiromani Temple

A magnificent temple situated near Amer fort is a must visit attraction. Inside the temple you will find Meera Bai, Sri Krishna and Lord Vishnu idols which are being worshipped.It was built by wife of Raja Man Singh I Queen Kankawati. The artistic look of temple attracts more visitors towards itself.

Jal Mahal

In the middle of Man Sagar Lake a beautiful palace name Jal Mahal is located. Considered as an residence of Raja Man Singh ll it was built in 18th century. You can find both Mughal and Rajput Architecture. Best thing is that you require a boat to reach to this palace which is a plus point for the reasons to visit palace.

Panna Meena ka Kund

The kund was built in 16th century for the people to sit and relax. It is also known as Panna Mian ki Baori, located at distance of 0.6 km from Amer Fort it is considered as an must visit place while being in Jaipur.
