South Goa, with its serene beaches, quaint villages, and cultural richness, is a treasure trove of experiences. If you’re planning a trip and wondering how to make the most of it in three days, I’ve got you covered! Having explored this beautiful slice of paradise myself, I’m excited to share my experiences with you. From stunning beaches to charming heritage sites, there are plenty of things to do in Goa with family that everyone will enjoy. Here's how you can plan your South Goa trip in 3 days for an unforgettable getaway.
I began my South Goa adventure at Majorda Beach, known for its soft golden sands and tranquil vibe. The beach wasn’t crowded, which made it perfect for a peaceful morning. I strolled along the shoreline, collected seashells, and watched fishermen set out for their day’s catch. The cool breeze and the rhythmic sound of the waves were the perfect antidote to my city life stress.
Don’t miss out on trying the fresh toddy (palm wine) from a local shack here—it’s refreshing and unique.
After soaking in the morning vibes, I headed to Colva Beach, one of the most popular beaches in South Goa. While it’s a bit livelier than Majorda, it still retains a calm ambiance. I treated myself to a Goan seafood platter at a beachside café, which included crispy fried prawns, tangy fish curry, and the famous Goan poi bread.
If you’re an adventure enthusiast, Colva Beach offers water sports like parasailing and jet skiing. I opted for a thrilling banana boat ride, which had me laughing the entire time.
The first day concluded at Betalbatim Beach, also known as the “Sunset Beach.” Trust me, there’s nothing quite like watching the sun dip into the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. I sat on the sand with my camera, capturing moments that I’d cherish forever.
Betalbatim is less commercialized, so it’s ideal for couples or families looking for some quiet time.
On the second day, I decided to explore the cultural side of South Goa. My first stop was the Church of Our Lady of Hope in Chinchinim. This quaint, whitewashed church is a testament to Goa’s Portuguese heritage. The intricate interiors and peaceful surroundings made it a spiritual experience for me.
Post-church visit, I made my way to Chandor Village, which is a hidden gem for history enthusiasts. Chandor was once the capital of ancient Goa, and it still holds relics of its glorious past. I joined a heritage walk that took me through the winding lanes of the village.
The highlight of the tour was the Braganza House, a 17th-century mansion with stunning architecture, antique furniture, and chandeliers. The knowledgeable guide shared fascinating stories of Goa’s colonial history.
As the sun began to set, I boarded a peaceful river cruise on the Sal River. Floating through the lush mangroves with birds chirping around was a serene experience. Some cruises offer live Goan music, and it was delightful to tap my feet to the local tunes.
On the final day, I decided to explore the spiritual side of South Goa. I visited the Shri Chandreshwar Temple, perched on a hilltop. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the countryside. Reaching the temple involved a short trek, which was totally worth it for the peaceful atmosphere and the scenic beauty.
No trip to South Goa is complete without indulging in some shopping. I headed to the bustling Margao Market, where I found a mix of souvenirs, spices, and local handicrafts. The vibrant stalls were filled with colorful Goan sarongs, coconut shell art, and cashew nuts (a Goan specialty).
Don’t forget to pick up some bebinca, a traditional Goan dessert, to take back home. It’s a layered cake made of coconut milk, sugar, and eggs—an absolute treat!
To wrap up my South Goa journey, I spent the evening at Palolem Beach, often regarded as one of the most scenic beaches in India. The crescent-shaped shoreline, swaying palm trees, and cozy beach shacks set the perfect ambiance for a relaxed evening.
I rented a kayak to explore the quiet backwaters near the beach, which was an incredible experience. Later, I enjoyed a candlelit dinner at a beach shack, savoring a Goan prawn curry with rice. It was the perfect end to my South Goa trip in 3 days.
South Goa’s charm lies in its balance of natural beauty, rich heritage, and laid-back vibe. Whether you’re a beach lover, history buff, or foodie, there’s something for everyone. My South Goa trip in 3 days was a perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and cultural immersion.
So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and head to South Goa for an experience you’ll cherish forever! Let me know if you’ve already visited or are planning your trip—I’d love to hear your thoughts.
