Train/Bus: If you are coming from Dehradun or Chandigarh you can take a bus or train to the town of Shimla. Fairly, Shimla is one of the best places to start the trek and it is easily accessible from the main trek starting point.

Shimla to Sangla: The trek normally starts at Sangla, a beautiful town in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. The distance between Shimla to Sangla can be covered by private taxi or through a shared jeep especially reserved for tourists. It covers a distance of 200 km in approximately 8-10 hours and provides beautiful sceneries of the Himalayan terrace.

Day 1: Finally the team reached Sangla which has beautiful nature and amazing views of villages and mountains. 


Day 2: Sangla to Chitkul

Activities: Get used to the climate and surroundings of this beautiful town of Sangla. Take a tour of the Kamru Fort tourist attraction, the Baspa River among others. 

Overnight: Sangla is yet another location where tourists should stay either in a guest house or even in a tent. 

Sangla to Chitkul: On the second day, travelers can cover the distance of 22 kilometers in around six/seven hours. 

Activities: Visit Chitkul the last settled human-established village on the Indo-Tibetan border. Have fun in a calm and natural atmosphere and get acquainted with the customs of the population. 

Overnight: Spend a night in any nearest guest house/ camp at Chitkul. 


Day 3: Chitkul to Kalpa 127 Km Day 4: Kalpa to Reckong Peo 25 Km 

 

Activities: Navigate to Kalpa, the scenic village famous for the mountain outing of the Kinnaur Kailash range. Visit as many local temples and monasteries as it is possible. 

Overnight: It will be better to find a guesthouse or a hotel in Kalpa. 


Day 4-5: Kalpa to Rupin Pass Base Camp 

 

Activities: The Trek starts from the base camp, and crosses the forests, meadows, and glacial streams. The trek entails several days hike through various difficult terrains. 

Overnight: Stop at different sites on the trek to camp. 


Day 6: Rupin Pass 

 

Activities: If one climbs to the Rupin Pass he/she will be rewarded with stunning views of the range of mountains. This is the summit of the trek, psychologically welling and awe-inspiring. 

Overnight: It may be necessary to either camp near the pass, or go down in altitude. 


Day 7-8: Return Journey 

 

Activities: Descend in the same way or through a different way have a feel of the different views and get back to the camp. 

Overnight: Accommodation could be in a guest house or camps as one is trekking along the area. 


Day 9: Shimla 

 

Activities: Return to Shimla so that you can further spend your time there or engage in other traveling activities to Bangalore.
