Life in the city can sometimes feel heavy. The constant noise, deadlines, and rush make it hard to pause and breathe. For me, nature has always been the perfect escape. The mountains and forests give me space to think and reconnect with myself. Thatâs why I decided to do a single-day Kodachadri trek with my friend Arjun â a quick but refreshing getaway.
We started from Bangalore around 4 AM, driving straight to Hosagadde, the base village for Kodachadri. The drive was long but beautiful. Winding roads, coffee plantations, and misty hills kept us excited and awake. By 8 AM, we reached the base, parked our car, and met our local guide. The village was quiet, surrounded by forests, and the fresh mountain air felt instantly rejuvenating.
After a quick breakfast, we began our trek. The trail started gently, passing through coffee plantations and gradually leading into dense forests. The smell of wet soil and fresh leaves, the chirping birds, and small streams along the path made the walk magical. The trail got steeper as we approached the peak, and we had to take small breaks to catch our breath and enjoy the surroundings.
By late morning, we reached Shree Mookambika Peak, the highest point of Kodachadri. Clouds floated around us, and the view of the endless Western Ghats was breathtaking. We rested for a while, clicked photos, and had a small snack while soaking in the calm and misty atmosphere. The climb was challenging at times, but standing atop the peak made every step worth it.
After spending some peaceful moments at the peak, we began our descent. Walking down was easier on the legs but required attention to avoid slippery patches. By 3 PM, we were back at the base village. We had lunch at a small local eatery and reflected on the trek during the drive back to Bangalore. Even in just one day, the experience felt refreshing and rejuvenating.
The single-day Kodachadri trek reminded me that even a short escape into nature can recharge your mind and spirit. The forests, hills, and misty peaks gave me calm, clarity, and a sense of adventure. If city life ever feels overwhelming, I would say â spend a day at Kodachadri, walk its trails, and let the mountains remind you how beautiful simplicity can be.
