This temple is situated at an altitude of 3,293 meters (10,804) in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Surrounded by snow-clad mountains and the holy river Yamuna, this temple holds immense religious and spiritual significance for the Hindu devotees. It is believed that taking bath in this water destroys sins and protects from premature death.

2. Gangotri Temple

When Bhima tried to catch this bull, he disappeared into the ground and his hump (back part) remained above the earth, which is worshipped in Kedarnath Temple today.

Of the four Dhams in Uttarakhand, the Bandrinath temple is the largest and most revered. The temple is located at an altitude of 3,133 metres (10,279 ft) in Chamoli district. The Alaknanda river flows in front of the Badrinath temple and the high peaks of the Himalayas surround it, which further adds to its grandeur. This temple is not only spiritually important but is also famous for its supernatural beauty. According to mythology, Lord Vishnu performed rigorous penance at this place. Seeing his devotion and meditation, Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a Badri (wild plum) tree to protect him from the cold. Therefore, Lord Vishnu is worshipped here by the name "Badri-Vishal". Adi Shankaracharya is said to have established the temple in the 8th century.
