Some experiences do not ask for your permission before changing you.
They simply happen, quietly, slowly, and then suddenly you are not the same person anymore.
For me, the Sar Pass Trek was one of those life-altering journeys.
Even now, when I think back to those five days in Parvati Valley, I don't remember just the cold or the climbs or the campsite views. I remember the sound of snow crunching under my boots, the soft glow of sunrise touching the ridges, the silence that only the Himalayas can offer, and the calmness that settled inside me long after the trek was over.
And a big part of why this trek became so unforgettable was because I did it with Dream Trips , a team that did not just guide me through the mountains but made me feel at home in the middle of nowhere.
This is my complete, authentic and real, and straight-from-the-heart Sar Pass Trek experience with Dream Trips crafted for anyone dreaming of stepping into the heart of the Parvati Valley.
The Sar Pass Trek is a high-altitude trail located in the magical Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh, starting from Kasol and rising all the way to 13,850 ft. It spans 50 km over 5 days and is considered one of Indias most rewarding moderate treks.
Why its so special:
It blends pine forests, wooden villages, alpine meadows, snowy ridges, and a thrilling snow slide all in one trek.
Every day feels like a new world.
It is beginner-friendly yet adventurous.
It offers one of the best sunrise views in the Himalayas.

Kasol felt like a soft beginning to a tough story. Cafes humming with travellers, art on the walls, river flowing with confidence ââ¬â everything felt like a warm prelude.
The trail started gently, winding through pine-scented forests. The sunlight filtered through branches like golden confetti. Birds echoed in the distance. Every step felt like stepping deeper into silence, deeper into myself.
Hours later, the wooden houses of Grahan Village appeared like a painting ââ¬â traditional, peaceful, timeless. Kids ran around with laughter that carried through the valley. Old Himachali homes stood strong against the backdrop of mountains.
That night, wrapped inside a sleeping bag, the stars looked impossibly close.
For the first time in years, I slept with a kind of peace I had forgotten.
The second day was when the trek truly began.
The trail grew steeper. The forest grew thicker. The rivers voice faded. At times, the climb felt endless but Dream Trips ensured everyone moved together. Our trek leader shared stories of Grahan's culture, local legends, and how Parvati Valley earned its name.
When we reached Minh Thach, the entire landscape opened into a silent bowl of mountains. Snow patches started appearing. Winds grew colder.
That evening, as the sun dipped behind peaks, our campsite glowed under the last orange strokes of the sky.
It felt like we were camping inside a postcard.
This day tested everything my lungs, legs, and determination.
The trail to Nagaru was steep and icy, carved into snow-covered slopes. It demanded patience, rhythm, and belief. Dream Trips constantly checked our oxygen and made sure nobody felt pressured or rushed.
Reaching Nagaru felt like arriving at the balcony of the Himalayas.
Clouds floated beneath us. Peaks shined above us.
And the air? Cold enough to freeze your thoughts.
That night, as winds howled outside our tents, I realised something important ââ¬â
in the mountains, discomfort is not the enemy.
Itââ¬â¢s the teacher.
We began at 3 AM.
Headlamps slicing the darkness.
Snow glittering like powdered glass.
Breath forming tiny clouds in the freezing air.
As dawn broke, the mountains slowly caught fire with golden light.
Reaching Sar Pass at 13,850 ft felt like standing at the world's quietest rooftop.
An ocean of white stretched endlessly.
Wind wrapped around us like a cold embrace.
And everything , every struggle, every climb, every doubt suddenly felt worth it.
Then came the moment every trekker waits for.
the legendary Sar Pass Snow Slide.
You sit.
You push.
And gravity takes you.
Sliding through long, natural snow chutes, screaming, laughing, repeating memories you have not felt since childhood , that moment alone is enough reason to do Sar Pass.
The descent opened into the dreamlike Biskeri Thach, a meadow so wide and peaceful that it felt unreal.
Grass swayed gently. Peaks surrounded us like guardians.
It was the perfect ending to the most extraordinary day of my life.
The final walk felt emotional.
Forests, waterfalls, wooden bridges everything felt quieter, slower, more meaningful.
When we finally reached Barshaini, my legs were tired but my heart was full.
Some journeys end on the map
but continue inside you.
Sar Pass was one of them.
