Things to know before visiting Dudhsagar Waterfall

Dudhsagar is the place to go if you're in Goa and want to see something besides beaches. This enormous waterfall, which is tucked away in the jungle, gets its name from the way the water cascades down the rocks, which resembles white milk. But in all honesty, parking your car and taking a stroll is not a leisurely trip.

You must first travel to Kulem, a small town. You must take a Forest Department Jeep from there. The path is just dirt, rocks, and small rivers, so you can't drive your own car or scooty inside. You will be jumping around in your seat due to the Jeep's extremely rough and shaky ride, but driving through the trees and water is actually pretty enjoyable.

You still have to walk over rocks for roughly fifteen minutes after the Jeep drops you off. Wearing flip-flops can make this part difficult, so if at all possible, wear sneakers. Additionally, since there are a lot of monkeys waiting to get your snacks, keep your bags closed. If you wish to swim in the pool at the base of the falls, you must wear a life jacket. It feels great after the hot Jeep ride, even though the water is freezing.

Get to Kulem as soon as you can. There may be a long line for the Jeeps if you arrive by 11:00 AM. You won't see that enormous waterfall with the train bridge in front of it anywhere else, but it's a long day trip and you'll be exhausted at the end.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Is swimming there safe?

Yes, but only if you put on the provided life jacket. In certain places, the water is very deep, and the rocks beneath it are slick.

Can I drive my own vehicle to the waterfall?

You can't. Only Jeeps from the forest department are allowed on the road. After parking at Kulem, you must take the official Jeep from there.

When is the ideal time to go?

October through February is ideal. Because the rivers are too high and dangerous to cross during the monsoon season (June to September), the Jeep path is typically closed.

Are there eateries close to the waterfall?

Not at all. The Jeep starting point in Kulem has a few small shops, but there are none within the forest. Keep a few biscuits and some water in your bag.

Conclusion

If you have a full day in Goa, you should definitely visit Dudhsagar. The view is genuine and unadulterated, but the ride can be a little bumpy and crowded. You'll have a terrific time if you wear nice shoes, arrive early, and keep your food out of the monkeys' reach.
