Travel guide to Manali

Manali, one of Himachal's most popular hill stations, offers spectacular views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges, which are covered in snow for most of the year.

Manali has evolved into a popular destination for young people seeking longer stays for work. Old Manali is a popular neighbourhood for such people, thanks to its relaxing cafes, good wifi, small eateries, and convenient shops. There are numerous homestays and hostels that provide cheap dorm beds for extended stays.

Manali is a great starting point for trekking in the Himalayas, as it has a wide variety of trails to choose from. Kullu, a nearby town, is a great place to go rafting on the Beas River.
Located adjacent to the Parvati River, the Parvati Valley is home to popular tourist destinations such as Kasol, Manikaran, Tosh, and a smattering of smaller towns.

Travelers can now reach Sissu in a few hours via the Atal Tunnel, making Spiti much more accessible.

Manali's Best Climate:

Throughout the year, Manali's weather offers a wide range of conditions. During the months of November through February, you'll be able to enjoy the cold weather and snow. However, from March to October, the weather in Manali is pleasant. During the monsoon season, which lasts from late July to August and some of September, I recommend that you stay away from Manali.

In the monsoon season, landslides and flooding are common on the Delhi-Manali highway. Avoid getting caught in the middle of it. Even though it rains here in the months of July and August, this location regains its unique beauty as a result of the rain.

Visit Manali between late December and early March if you are a fan of snowfall and want to see the snow in Manali, Rohtang Pass, or Solang Valley. When you visit in January or February, you may be able to see some snowfall.

The best places to visit in Manali

Hidimba Devi Temple

It's hard to visit Manali without visiting the Hidimba Devi Temple, which honours the Mahabharata character Hidimba, wife of Bhima. Manali's most famous attraction, the temple, is thought to be over 400 years old. It sits on a large rock protruding from the ground, surrounded by beautiful cedar forests at its base.

Wood and stone carvings reminiscent of Japanese pagodas can be found throughout the structure. In a temple situated seventy metres from the temple, Ghatokacha, the son of Bhima and Hidimba, is honoured.

Solang Valley

Solang Valley, a popular destination for adventure sports enthusiasts and honeymooners, is located just 13 kilometres from Manali and is known for its breathtaking views. It's impossible to get a better view of nature than from Solang. From the summit, you can see glaciers, snow-covered peaks, and snow-covered plains. Skiing and snowboarding are also popular activities in this area because of the high altitude.

A winter skiing festival is held each year, and there are also workshops for visitors. Activities like paragliding and horseback riding take over this area during the summer. Adventurers and vacationers alike enjoy trekking and camping trips.

Jogni Waterfalls

The Jogni or JugniFalls, in Manali's far reaches is the place to go if you want to get away from the city's bustle. The plan is all about going up to the top of JogniFalls and taking in the surrounding natural scenery. The falls are only 3 kilometres from the city centre of Manali and can be accessed by car.

For about 20 minutes, you'll be walking through orchards, pine forests, and small streams.

Tibetan Monastery

Tibetan refugees built the Manali Gompa in 1960, also known as the Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa. Those who seek a sense of peace and solitude will find no better place to visit than this one. The Buddhist philosophy of non-violence is reflected in the monastery's architecture and paintings. Tibetan handicrafts are available for purchase as souvenirs at this location.
